Sukin Oil Balancing Skin Care Range*

The Australian brand Sukin first launched in 2007 by a family based in Melbourne, who's mission was to provide high quality, affordable and effective skin care. Rapidly becoming one of Australia's favourite skin care brands and their commitment to sourcing natural ingredients; Sukin never use harsh chemicals including sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium laureth sulphate, synthetic fragrances, animal derivatives, harsh detergents, propylene glycol, artificial colours, triethanolamine, mineral oils, EDTA or parabens. Instead Sukin carefully select high quality botanical extracts and essential oils to use in their products.

As an affordable brand, I was pleasantly surprise how high-end the products appeared and how effectively they worked. The Oil Balancing range is targeted to those who suffer with oily and unbalanced skin. The charcoal infused range includes a purifying gel cleanser, clarifying facial tonic, mattifying facial moisturiser, pore refining facial scrub and an anti-pollution facial masque. The full range can be viewed here.

Purifying Gel Cleanser (Link).

The black gel based cleanser housed in a pump dispenser harnesses powerful absorption properties of bamboo charcoal, which aids balancing the skin and removes excess oil and toxins. Infused with moringa, coconut, rooibos and willowherb extracts; it assists in keeping the skin clean, clear and feeling refreshed. I apply about one - two pumps and massage in circular motions into my skin, paying particular attention to the T-zone and chin area, as this is where I am most oily and prone to breaking out. Once massaged into the skin, I remove with a warm muslin cloth and repeat if necessary but the gel cleanser is quite easy to remove and leaves the skin feeling clean and fresh. The cleanser controls excess oil without being too harsh on the skin or developing that 'tight' sensation which some skin care products can do. With an earthy yet fresh aroma, this would be ideal for those who enjoy a delicate scent that's not too overpowering.

Clarifying Facial Tonic (Link).

Designed to be used after cleansing, the clarifying facial tonic is a blend of white tea extract and quince to help revitalise the appearance of skin and tightening the pores, therefore refining the skins texture and limiting shine. The pomegranate and bilberry extracts promotes a balanced complexion, while aloe vera, chamomile and cucumber extracts encourages smooth and calm skin. I pour a little onto a cotton pad and sweep away starting from the centre of my face and working outwards. I love the refreshed sensation after using this tonic: my skin feels clean, healthy and hydrated.

Pore Refining Facial Scrub (Link).

Consumed within a tube bottle, the natural jojoba seeds and bamboo charcoal gently exfoliates the skin helping to keep pores clear of impurities. Charcoal aids balancing the skin by removing excess oil and toxins. Soothed by willowherb, rooibos tea and coconut oil; blemished prone skin feels hydrated and revitalised. The facial scrub is effective yet gentle on the skin. I massage around a pea-sized amount onto my face, paying particular attention the T-zone area then rinse off with warm water. The facial scrub is ideal for those who like to feel their skin is exfoliated without being to harsh.

Mattifying Facial Moisturiser (Link).

Housed in a pump dispenser, the daily moisturiser is enriched with rice powder and quince to promote healthy, balanced skin whilst leaving a matte finish. A beautiful blend of aloe vera, chamomile, rooibos tea, moringa and willowherb revitalises and refreshes the skin. The mattifying facial moisturiser is the ideal partner to the purifying gel cleanser and clarifying skin tonic and a lovely way finish off your skin care routine but also works wonders underneath makeup. With the moisturiser controlling excess oil and providing a matte canvas, I find my makeup sits much smoother on my skin and looks less 'shiny.' A light yet creamy texture; I find one pump is enough for my face and neck. My skin feels nourished and hydrated yet it doesn't sap all the oil from my skin which some oil-controlling skin care products can do.

Hydrating Facial Masque (Link).

A rich and luxurious masque with a light and delicate scent provides skin with a blissful experience, leaving you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and a glowing complexion. A wonderful blend of mango seed butter, avocado, olive fruit and jojoba oil nourishes and provides intense moisture for skin that needs some TLC. Papaya and pineapple enzymes nourish the skin's complexion and impart fruit acids and vitamins to promote a smooth and healthy glow. As with the rest of the range, the fresh, earthy aroma is very calming and relaxing, which is perfect after a long day or as a pre-bedtime treat. (This masque is from their Signature range).

Since changing to the Sukin Oil Balancing range over the last few weeks, I have noticed a dramatic change in my skin. My skin not only appears but feels less oily and I have not had a breakout since. My skin feels calmer, hydrated and oh so soft. It's so lovely to notice such a huge difference in my skin's appearance, not just the excess oil control but the clean, glowing and healthy complexion is wonderful. I would highly recommend Sukin's Oil Balancing range to those who suffer with oily skin and want an all-natural ingredients infused skin care routine that's easy and simple to use.
