A while ago I visited Ikea. Luckily I don't live far from our local Ikea store. Ikea is one of those places I don't visit often but when I do, I am immediately drawn to the home accessories section admiring the scented candles, fluffy blankets and sweet succulent plants. On my recent trip, I purchased a few items and thought I would share what I got.

Chatsworth Farm Shop, Pilsley, Bakewell.
One of my favourite past times is visiting farm shops. The abundance of local produce carefully and lovingly crafted, harvested or reared portrays a sense of passion for good food and knowing exactly where it comes from.
The award winning Chatsworth farm shop located in the heart of Pilsley, Bakewell is proud to produce and prepare nearly half of its products on the Chatsworth estate. With a wide variety to choose from including a butcher's counter filled with Chatsworth meat, poultry and game, a fresh fish counter, fresh fruit and vegetables, a wonderful array of delicatessen goods including home-cooked meats and pies, delicious patisserie and a range of locally brewed beers, wines and soft drinks; there is something to tantalise your taste buds. Weather you are cooking a delicious dinner for your guests or looking for ingredients for a long and lazy weekend supper, the Chatsworth farm shop has something to offer.

York, United Kingdom.
Warning! Photo-heavy. Please allow time for photos to load.
Last weekend I visited the historical and beautiful city of York where I spent the day sight-seeing, visiting the wonderful attractions, tasting local produce and immersing myself in the colourful history of York. York is rich in history, full of charming cobbled streets, exquisite architecture, an array of local attractions including historical buildings, museums, tours and so much more. The city offers so much, it's hardly surprising to see why its such a popular destination and the perfect break for families, couples, and groups alike. The Romans knew York as Eboracum. To the Saxons it was Eoforwick and the Viking invaders called it Jorvik. The city is bursting with character including the marvellous medieval architecture, glorious Georgian town houses and the handsome Victorian railway.

I cannot believe I am the grand age of twenty-seven and yet I still feel like my sixteen year old self inside however, I take solace in the fact I am always mistaken for being twenty (the best time has to be awarded to the gentleman who thought I was eighteen and told me to buy the young-persons train fair) or being ID'd; even when purchasing a lottery ticket or a scratch card! For my birthday I had a surprise weekend booked in beautiful York. I loved exploring the little streets, getting lost in the array of shops and cafes, watching the world go by and stopping by for tea and cake. The whole weekend was perfect. I shall be writing a separate blog post about my time in York and share some beautiful photos I managed to take.

Rufford Abbey Country Park.
Spring is my favourite time of the year. A hive of activity; flowers bursting into bloom, wildlife emerging and undertaking preparations and warmer, sunnier days. One of my favourite poets John Clare sums up Spring in his sonnet; On a Lane in Spring:

Rimmel London - Brow This Way (Brow Shake Filling Powder) £5.99* (Link).
A new launch from Rimmel London from their Brow This Way collection, Brow Shake Filling Powder lands in stores and online. The 3 in 1 soft powder promises to shape, define and line brows. I remember a time where filling in my brows was a menial task consisting of adding a few strokes of a brow pencil or powder and combing through with a spoolie. Today, there are brow bars and products galore dedicated to those two, expression-giving features on our face. This new collection ensures our brows are groomed to perfection.

I wanted to share blogging tools and resources that I use regularly and thought it may be useful to other bloggers. Most of the tools and resources are free but some will require a purchase ( I have tried to keep this to a minimum). I hope this will be useful.

The Whimsical Fashion Colouring Book - Natasha Itzcovitz £8.99* (Link).
Adult colouring books are certainly becoming more popular, not just for their health benefits and aiding relaxation but reliving childhood memories of Crayola crayons and brown paper colouring books. Today, there is a whole host of adult colouring books to choose from including your favourite fictional novel or TV show or pretty patterns and luscious landscapes. It is one of my favourite ways to unwind and a great way of expressing your own creativity.

(L-R) Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick, Volume 1 Seconde Mascara & Radiance Reveal Concealer.
After using the last of my concealer and trying to scrape out every little available product, I thought it was time to purchase a new concealer. After delving into some of my favourite blogs, I noticed a fair few discussing the new Radiance Reveal concealer from Bourjois and sounded like the type of product that would suit me: light texture, brightening effect and most importantly conceals blemishes in an instant. With this goal in mind, a recent trip to Boots provided a lovely surprise when I saw there was a promotion on Bourjois products. Whilst browsing the Bourjois stand in Boots and trying to decide which shade of concealer would suit me, I noticed that a promotion was to spend over £12 and receive a free Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick. With that in mind, I decided to pick up the Volume 1 Seconde Mascara too.

This is my go-to recipe whenever I need to whip up a cake quickly but still want it to look pretty. Its a beautiful moist sponge that melts-in-the-mouth topped with a light vanilla buttercream. Its the perfect accompaniment with a cup of tea and best of all, it is very simple to bake.
